Garmin Gravel Worlds Announces Affordable Gravel Camp

Lincoln, Neb. (Feb 8, 2022) – The Pirate Cycling League, hosts of Garmin Gravel Worlds in Lincoln, Nebraska, has announced its first Gravel Camp. To be held April 28-30, 2023, the Garmin Gravel Worlds Camp aims be a more affordable, compelling option to other prominent gravel camps across the country.

According to Jason Strohbehn director of operations and marketing for Garmin Gravel Worlds, the camp is designed for beginner and intermediate cyclists looking to take their fitness and knowledge to the next level.

“The Pirate Cycling League crew is so excited to do our first gravel camp,” Strohbehn said. “Our primary goal was to create a more obtainable price point for a quality gravel camp. 

“Together with our partners, we’ve created an awesome camp experience that rivals others at much higher prices. We want to help riders of every experience level attain the results they seek, so they can train for and participate in events like Garmin Gravel Worlds with confidence.”

The camp will be led by Gravel Cycling Hall of Fame Inductee and Gravel Worlds Founder, Corey Godfrey, professional athletes including, Hannah Shell and Jake Magee, and professional cycling coach, Frank Pike of Beyond Category Coaching. 

“Combined, this team has decades of hands-on experience in gravel cycling and all share a mission of creating a more affordable training option than most camps,” Strohbehn said.

According to Beyond Category Coaching Founder, Frank Pike, “As a Nebraska native, Gravel Worlds has always had a special place in my heart. I’m excited to offer my nearly two decades of coaching expertise to help fellow cyclist become fitter, faster, and stronger on and off the bike.” 

The camp will consist of two and half days of training rides and educational training sessions. Group rides will be broken into beginner and intermediate sessions, so all riders feel safe and capable no matter their speed or expertise on the bike. Training sessions will focus on topics including nutrition, beginner and advanced training, race day preparation, navigation, and hands-on bicycle maintenance and troubleshooting training.

Hannah Shell is a participant in the Lifetime Grand Prix and has raced professionally for seven years. Jake Magee has been a full-time cyclist since 2016. 

“My partner, Jake Magee, and I are so excited to share our combined experiences to offer a unique, hands-on experience at the Garmin Gravel Worlds Camp,” Shell said. “Our goal is to help beginner and intermediate riders become more prepared physically and mentally for their individual racing and riding goals.” 

Registration will be limited to 80 participants in 2023. Registration is $200, and participants can register, view the event schedule, and find links to discounted local hotels at GravelCamp.bike.

Garmin Gravel Worlds 2023 is to be be held August 25-26, 2023. Registration is currently open at gravel-worlds.com.
